PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology to distribute power and data over a single network cable. To use PoE, you need devices offering the functionality. The most common PoE products are:
- Switches
- Splitters
- Repeaters
- Injectors
- Cameras
- Access Points
- LED lamps
Now let’s have a closer look at the products.
PoE splitter
PoE repeater
PoE injector
A PoE camera is an IP camera that can be powered by PoE. This is very helpful, when the surveillance camera is placed in an area with no power outlets.
Access Points, which are supplied by PoE, get data and power directly via a standard patch cable.
Nearly all modern IP phones are PoE capable. With PoE the amount of cables can be reduced dramatically.
LED devices with a network cable can also be powered by PoE.
LT PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology to distribute power and data over a single network cable. PoE helps to reduce the installation and operating costs, because no power supply is needed at the installation point.
The ALLNET LT PoE products support the IEEE802.3af standard with an output of 15.4 watts, the IEEE802.3at high power standard with 30 watts as well as the LT PoE standard with 90 Watts. Active PoE devices are detected automatically and supplied individually on their own power requirement. By combining Switch/Injector, Repeater and Splitter distances of more than 500m are possible. At the end of the route devices with no native PoE function can be powered with 25V. With standard CAT6 cables up to 90 watts can be transported via PoE.
