xPON – Flexible Fiber Technology for Modern Networks
xPON (Passive Optical Network) is a family of fiber access technologies, including GPON and XGS-PON, designed to deliver high-speed broadband services over a cost-effective and reliable passive fiber infrastructure.
GPON provides speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream, making it ideal for residential internet, voice, and IPTV services.
XGS-PON offers 10 Gbps symmetrical bandwidth (downstream and upstream), supporting bandwidth-intensive applications such as cloud services, remote work, enterprise connectivity, and future-proof digital services.
Key Difference: While GPON is a proven solution for standard broadband deployments, XGS-PON delivers significantly higher, symmetrical speeds for next-generation network requirements. Both technologies can coexist on the same fiber infrastructure, enabling smooth and scalable network upgrades.
